Show and Go

If you would like to propose a paddling trip, this is the place to do it. Registered users can post a trip using the "Comments" section below. Just because you are proposing a trip does not mean you need to be the "Leader", as usual with TNP trips there are no leaders, there are just other paddlers like you who want to paddle together. You all go together and determine what you are going to do by mutual consent. You can propose any trip you want, either from the existing launch sites, or some place you have been before or would just like to explore.

Thames River

I am thinking about paddling the Thames River on November 1st. I plan to start in Norwich at high tide (7:59am) and head south to Eastern Point Beach. About 15 miles of flatwater. It's not the most scenic or challenging paddle, but I grew up in Uncasville and spent much of my youth around that body of water, so it's personal. If anyone is bored and wants to come, drop me an email. (ug362000@hotmail.com)
Thanks,
Craig

I need directions to the

I need directions to the Mystic Community Center launch from rt 95

YMCA Directions

Off the top of my head: From 95 northbound, take exit 90 . Go right (south) on Rte 27(?) (past Mystic Seaport) to Rte 1 (2.5 mi.?). Take left (east) onto Rte 1. At 0.25+/- mi., take right at traffic light onto Mason's Island Road (top of small hill past Dunkin Donuts) Go over RR bridge, YMCA (Mystic Community Center) should be on the right. Go around back of building to beach area for launch site. We won't be there. Have fun!

Tuesday night

I'm new to the site andjust signed up. Can someone clue me in on how the Tuesday paddle works. Arrival times, brown bagging it, etc. Thanks. i would like to paddle along tomorrow night.

I'm new too!

Hi Harold,
Just show up about 5:30 and unload your kayak. Say hi to folks & you'll find they are a friendly helpful group. It's very casual. Paddle until dusk - last week there were a couple of groups who went in different directions. After paddling, load your boat & gear back into your car & enjoy some chat and food with your fellow paddlers. If you want to earn some smiles - bring some tasty munchies to share ;-) That's it!
Last week was the first time I paddled with this group and it was lovely. Hope we see you tonight!

Saturday looks Sunny I'm out there

I'm paddling out of Bayberry Lane public launch sat morn 10:00. I'd like company, anybody interested "surfs up". Bring munchies, and what ever else floats your boat, don't know where I'm going, I think its all good.

Weekend Camping/ Kayak trip- CT River

Hi All,

Ross Relyea and I are planning an overnight camping/ kayak trip for Friday/ Saturday August 21st/22nd. Plan is to launch Friday morning near Hartford, paddle 25 miles to Hurd State Park, camp overnight and complete the journey to the mouth of the sound the next day (about another 25 miles).

We have a spare permit to camp after someone dropped out so posting this in the hope of finding someone interested. We expect the paddling to be easy and the camping hard! We have two tents between us so having your own tent isn't necessary. Email me or respond here.

Thanks!

Euan

Saturday paddle/picnic

Come to Bluff Point this Sat. (20th) for a Connyak sponsored pot luck picnic and practice/paddle. All welcome. Bring a chair, food to share, a boat (or not) and enjoy the company of other paddlers. Around 10:00 to whenever.

Demo Day

I hear that there will be an NDK demo day this Sunday, June 14 at Esker Point starting at 10am. I hear its being sponsored by Kayak Waveology and Maine Island Kayak and that there is no fee to try out as many quality sea kayaks as you like. Sounds to me like this will be a very good time. See You on the Water.

TNP plan to come to the Norwalk Islands Kayaker Jamboree

I would like to propose that TNP plan to come out to the Norwalk Islands the second weekend in August to be part of the Kayaker Jamboree. You can come for just the day, or plan to camp out over night. It is going to be a fun time.

Today is June 8th... this means that the Kayaker Jamboree is only 60 days away. (i.e. Aug. 7, 8, and 9 http://www.meetup.com/StamfordKayakGroup/calendar/9944849/)

Kayakers from all over are invited to Meet up with other kayakers on Shea Island in the Norwalk Island chain.

My goal is to see 100 kayakers over the weekend. Some will come just for the day, and some will come to camp over night. I hope to see you on Shea Island that weekend.

I need you to spread the word to other Kayak groups and to your kayaker friends. Please put up a flier at your shop if you are an outfitter or merchant. If you are paddling in Kayak for a Cause or Swim Across America or any other event this summer, pass the word out to everyone with a sea-worthy boat. If each person tells two people, who tells two people, etc. every kayaker in the tri-state area should hear about the Jamboree in 60 days. Who knows, maybe you will get invited.

This is the Kayaker Meetup of all Meetups!
