Old Saybrook, CT From the East:

  • Take I-95 South to exit 69.
  • Take Exit 1 which is Ferry Point.
  • Turn right onto Essex Road/Old State Road, follow for 0.4 miles.
  • Essex Road/Old State Road becomes Ferry Road.
  • Baldwin Bridge State Boat Launch will be located on your left.

From the West:

  • Take I-95 North to Exit 67.
  • Make a slight right onto Middlesex Turnpike/Route 154.

Destination - Lord's Cove and Goose Island - come see the swallows do their thing! They'll be descending onto the island for the entire month of September! Bring lights! The return to the launch site will be after dark and there are a lot of (power) boaters out there.

Old Saybrook - The Return of the Swallows

Destination - Lord's Cove, to see the approximately 300,000 swallows return before descending onto Goose Island for the night. Bring a light (headlamp) as the trip back to the launch will be after dark.
